After individual regeneration and washing, layers of anion-exchange and cation-exchange materials are re-mixed by blowing nitrogen upwards through them. The process is particularly applicable to the treatment of boiler feed water. The nitrogen may follow a closed circuit consisting of a pressure storage vessel, a valve-controlled pipe leading therefrom to a container of ion-exchange materials and a return pipe provided with a fan &c. to force the nitrogen back into the pressure vessel. |
