The present invention relates to a method for efficiently upgrading software of an M2M terminal to which power is irregularly applied. Provided in the present invention is a method for upgrading software of a mobile terminal comprising the following steps: (a) the mobile terminal checks information on a cycle of access to a predetermined upgrade server when power is applied; (b) the mobile terminal determines whether the checked cycle of the access to the upgrade server has passed; (c) the mobile terminal accesses the upgrade server in a case that the cycle of the access has passed from the determining result; and (d) the mobile terminal performs an upgrade operation according to a terminal software upgrade guide from the accessed upgrade server.
