PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life image forming apparatus configured to maintain high productivity for a long conveyance path of a sheet on which an image is formed.SOLUTION: A control unit of an image forming apparatus causes an imaging process unit to transfer a toner image on a sheet conveyed by a sheet conveyance unit, to execute printing operation. The control unit calculates, when there is print data, print instruction time required to be ready for a print instruction after converting the print data, sheet conveyance time required for conveying the sheet from a sheet supply port to a toner image transfer position, restart time required to be ready for imaging after shutting of the imaging process unit, and imaging time required for generating the toner image in the imaging process unit and conveying it to the transfer position. The control unit determines whether to delay the start of shutting off the imaging process unit after the toner image is transferred on the sheet conveyed last, according to a comparison result using the above calculated times. |
