PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder compact which reduces a loss in the case where a magnetic core is constructed and has excellent surface properties, and a surface processing method of a powder compact to obtain such a powder compact.SOLUTION: A powder compression object 10 is prepared with which an insulation material is interposed between metal particles, and a surface of the powder compression object 10 is polished. The polishing is performed while winding a strip-like polishing film 200 equipped with abrasive grains around a roll 300 and moving (e.g., rotating) the powder compression object 10 in contact with a region in which a backside opposing to a foreside of the polishing film 200 is supported in contact with the roll 300, on the foreside of the polishing film 200. By utilizing the strip-like polishing film 200 and moving and bringing the powder compression object 10 which is a material to be processed, into contact with the polishing film 200 held by the roll 300, the polishing film 200 or the roll 300 can be deformed by processing resistance. Therefore, metal particles can be prevented from being plastically deformed with surface processing, loss increase caused by the plastic deformation can be suppressed and further, satisfactory surface properties can be obtained. |
