PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system which can suppress communication traffic between an external terminal and other devices and to provide technique related to the system.SOLUTION: A remote control system includes: MFP10; an external terminal 30; and a server 50. The external terminal 30 selectively uses a browser use mode for displaying a browser screen in response to browser communication data and a transfer image use mode for displaying a transfer image screen in response to image data and displays a remote control screen. The external terminal 30 is transited to the browser use mode in response to a transition command informed from the MFP 10 when server cooperation processing is performed and displays the bowser screen in response to the browser communication data. The external terminal 30 is transited to the transfer image use mode in response to a transition command SR2 (step S93) informed from the MFP 10 by detection of occurrence of a specified event and displays the transfer image screen in response to the image data.
