The present invention relates to a method and system for recognizing a vehicle through an image, and an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of taking an image of the front of a vehicle to obtain an image, calculating the area of a polygon that is formed by connecting parts including left and right headlights of the vehicle on the image, calculating the area of a number plate of the vehicle on the image, calculating an area ratio from the area of the polygon and the area of the number plate, and comparing a reference area ratio pre-stored in a database with the area ratio to obtain information on the vehicle. |
