The device (10) has a tank (14) vertically delimited by a base (16) and horizontally delimited by a peripheral wall (20). The tank comprises zones (34a, 34b) for storing fluid (12), where the zones are arranged in a same horizontal plane. Heaters (32a, 32b) are fixed in the respective zones and designed to thaw out the fluid contained in the zones. A draw-off conduit (24) comprises a free end (28) arranged in the tank. A central unit controls the heaters in a heating state or quiescent state according command instruction such that the zones are heated selectively and independently. An independent claim is also included for a method for implementation of a device for fetching and thawing fluid in a motor vehicle.
