The present invention relates to an apparatus for driving multiple motors, an apparatus for driving a washing machine motor, and a method thereof which selectively drive the multiple motors by using only one inverter. The apparatus for driving the washing machine motor comprises: the washing machine motor including a double stator and a double rotor, each of which has a first and a second U phase, V phase and W phase stator coil; a motor controller for generating a driving signal according to a washing, a rinsing and a dehydrating mode and controlling drive of the washing machine motor; an inverter for generating three phase alternating current power according to the driving signal and applying arbitrary one phase alternating current power among the three phase alternating current power to an arbitrary one phase stator coil between the first U phase, V phase and W phase stator coil and the second U phase, V phase and W phase stator coil of the washing machine motor; and a switching part for switching and applying two phase alternating current power among the three phase alternating current power to the remaining other phase stator coil among the first U phase, V phase and W phase stator coil and the second U phase, V phase and W phase stator coil of the washing machine motor according to control of the motor controller. |
