Ketorolac tromethamine compositions for treating or preventing ocular pain

Disclosed is the use of ketorolac and carboxymethyl cellulose in the manufacture of a medicament for treating ocular pain and inflammation in a patient wherein the medicament comprises about 0.45% w/v ketorolac and about 0.5% w/v carboxymethyl cellulose, and is to be administered to the eyes of a patient, wherein the medicament reduces ocular pain and inflammation following cataract surgery. Further disclosed is the use of ketorolac tromethamine and carboxymethyl cellulose in the manufacture of a medicament for treating ocular pain and inflammation in a patient wherein the medicament comprises 0.45% w/v ketorolac tromethamine and 0.5% w/v carboxymethyl cellulose, wherein the medicament is formulated such that twice daily topical administration to an eye increases the bioavailability of the ketorolac in the eye relative to the four times daily topical administration of a second composition to an eye comprising about 0.4% w/v ketorolac tromethamine and no carboxymethyl cellulose.
