Class 20(3) A light permeable and sound absorbing panel, Fig. 2, for incorporating e.g. in a sub-ceiling construction below the lighting system of a room, comprises a pair of thin corrugated sheets 21, 22 made e.g. of vinyl chloride acetate which enclose a layer of transparent sound absorbant material 24 such as spun glass, rock fibres, etc.; rows of perforations 23 being formed in the tops as shown, or in the bottoms, of the corrugations. The sheets 21, 22, which may be held apart by spacers, not shown, and the intermediate layer 24 may be coloured to produce various decorative effects. In various other embodiments the panels are formed of single plain, or corrugated, sheets having one, or more, downwardly projecting perforated, channels such as 12, (Fig. 5), which extend transversely, or diagonally, across the panel and are filled with sound absorbing material. Covering strips may be placed ever the tops of the channels which may be V-shaped in section. Alternatively the sheets may be shaped as shown in Fig. 14. |
