Provided are an automobile crash simulation test apparatus for improving the reproducibility of pitching displacement of a specimen, and a method of controlling an automobile crash simulation test. The automobile crash simulation test apparatus includes: a sled which is supported movably along a horizontal front-rear direction and on which a specimen can be mounted; a sled acceleration apparatus for moving the sled by providing acceleration to the sled; a first vertical drive actuator that provides pitching displacement to the rear of the specimen in the direction of movement of the sled; and a control apparatus that controls an ascending operation of the first vertical drive actuator that provides pitching displacement and a descending operation of the first vertical drive actuator so as to simulate the descending state of the specimen on the basis of data obtained from an actual vehicle crash test.
