Abstract A trailer (10) comprising a frame (12) having wheels (14). A plurality of 5 support members (30) extend across an opening (26) provided in the frame (12) such that an item (28) to be carried by the trailer (10) rests on the support members (30). A plurality of lifting devices (32) secured to the support members (30) such that the support members (30) can be raised and lowered relative to the frame (12). A rear gate member (24) extends across a side of 10 the opening (26) adjacent the rear of the frame (12). The support members (30) are slidably removable away from the opening (26) in the lowered position and the rear gate member (24) is moveable away from the frame (12) to allow the trailer (10) to be driven forward away from the item (28) when the item (28) has been lowered to the ground.
