METHOD FOR TREATING WATER CONTAINING WATER-INSOLUBLE SUBSTANCE

Provided is a method which can treat water containing a water-insoluble substance in an economically advantageous manner. A method for treating water containing a water-insoluble substance, typified by produced water, using a porous material having a functional group on the surface thereof, preferably a porous material comprising an inorganic oxide. The method comprises: a first step of bringing an aqueous solution containing an ion capable of ion exchanging with the functional group into contact with the surface, thereby attaching the ion onto the surface; and a second step of allowing the water containing the water-insoluble substance to pass through the porous material from the surface of the porous material on which the ion has been attached, thereby removing the water-insoluble substance from the water containing the water-insoluble substance. After the first step and before the second step, a step of burning the porous material under a temperature condition of 300 to 500°C for 1 to 5 hours may be involved.
