1. An immunosuppressive trans-activator of transcription (Tat) derivative polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence comprising the following domains in the indicated order:
a transcription factor (TF) domain comprising a sequence from an immunosuppressive human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), SIV Tat protein, hairless or an artificial immunosuppressive sequence; a cysteine-rich region from lentiviral Tat or a defensin molecule; and a C-terminal region from a lentiviral Tat protein.
