PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip resistor capable of suppressing a heat value when an electric current passes therethrough.SOLUTION: A chip resistor 100 of the invention includes: an insulation substrate 101; a thin film resistor 103 which is deposited on at least a part of a surface of the insulation substrate 101 so as to have a predetermined thickness t; and terminal electrodes 104, 105 which are electrically connected with the thin film resistor 103. A surface of the insulation substrate 101 is polished on an interface (102) between the insulation substrate 101 and the thin film resistor 103.
