establishing a first communication link with a second switch between a first port of the first switch and a first port of the second switch;designating the first communication link as a principal link;establishing a second communication link with the second switch between a second port of the first switch and a second port of the second switch;designating the second communication link as a redundant link;detecting a failure of the first communication link;designating the second communication link as the principal link in response to the failure;transmitting profile information associated with the second port of the first switch to the second switch over the second communication link;detecting a recovery of the first communication link; anddesignating the first communication link as the redundant link in response to the recovery.
