The gas and steam turbine system (1) comprises a gas turbine (2) that is provided with a waste heat steam generator (3) associated with a steam line to a steam turbine. The waste heat steam generator supplies the exhaust gas to an internal combustion engine (12). The amount of heat content of the exhaust gas at the maximum power of the internal combustion engine is less than 20% of the maximum thermal output of the waste heat steam generator.
