PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make sure engagement of a pinion and a ring gear without depending on motor drive, in a starter.SOLUTION: In addition to a first helical spline connecting part 13, a starter 1 comprises: a second helical spline connecting part 17 whose torsion angle is reverse to that of the first helical spline connecting part 13 between a pinion 5 and an inner tube 15a. According to this, in the case that the pinion 5 abuts on an axial end face of a ring gear R, when a clutch 4 is further extruded after the abutment, the pinion 5 rotates by an amount of the total torsion angle of both the forst helical spline connecting part 13 and the second helical spline connecting part 17, and therefore a rotation angle of the pinion 5 can be enlarged. As a result, engagement with the ring gear R can be made sure without depending on the motor drive. |
