The method involves determining momentary lateral acceleration of a motor car as a function of momentary velocity (Vx) of the motor car (S1). A momentary target curve inclination of the motor car is determined (S2) based on the determined momentary lateral acceleration. A modified momentary target curve inclination is calculated (S3) by weighting calculated target curve slope with a velocity-dependent target curve slope weighting factor. Momentary track curvature (K) is determined (S4) by using a radar detector (30) installed in the motor car. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determining a target curve inclination of a motor car when driving on a curvilinear track portion (2) a motor car.
