PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a process in accordance with a size designated by a job without restoring supply of power to an operating unit if manual feed is designated at a time of receiving the job in a power saving state.SOLUTION: A printer includes: power control means for controlling supply of electric power to an operating unit, an engine unit, and a controller unit, and for shifting a printer state from a normal state to a power saving state or from the power saving state to the normal state; manual feeding means for feeding a manually input sheet; detection means for detecting a size of the manually input sheet; and determination means for determining whether a size of the sheet designated by a job matches the detected size of the sheet if the job designating manual feed is received after the printer state is shifted to the power saving state. If it is determined that the sizes of the sheet match each other, the power control means supplies the electric power to the controller unit and the engine unit to control the controller unit and the engine unit to process the job without restoring the supply of the electric power to the operating unit, and shifts the printer state to the power saving state after end of the job. |
