PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance interruption performance by shortening the electric-arc retention time.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic contactor includes a fixed contact 118, a movable contact 130 arranged oppositely to the fixed contact 118 so as to be able of contact and separate, and an arc-extinguishing container forming an arc-extinguishing chamber for housing the fixed contact 118 and movable contact 130. Between the contact surfaces facing the movable contact 130 and the fixed contact 118, at least the facing distance between the contact end of the fixed contact 118 and the contact end of the movable contact 130 is set to increase toward the end face on the contact end side. |
