PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture method of microalgae that enables low cost production of biomass derived from microalgae.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for culturing microalgae in the two step culture: in the first step, an isolated microalgae is cultured in a culture liquid in a first culture vessel and forms a film-like structure or biofilm having a three dimensional structure on the liquid surface; and in the second step, at least part of the film-like structure or the biofilm having a three dimensional structure formed on the liquid surface is transferred as a seed algae to culture the microalgae on a liquid surface.
