The invention deals with a method of processing data in a system including a first device (PC) able to request, from a second device, an operation to be carried out on a data item, the first device storing both a private key and a public key, the second device being able to store at least one encrypted data item (A') enciphered by means of the public key, characterized in that it comprises - a step of encryption (ET12), in the first device, of an operation (ADD :B) to be performed in conjunction with said at least one data item (A); - a first step of transmission (ET13) to the second device of the result of the encryption ((ADD :B)'); - a first step of reception (ET14) and of storage of said result in the second device; following a data access request arising from the first device, - a second step of transmission (ET22) from the second device of the set of stored data (A', (ADD :B)') - a second step of reception (ET25) by the first device, followed by a step of decryption by means of the private key and a step of carrying out the operation (A ADD B).
