The method involves coupling electric motors (11.1, 12.1) i.e. brushless direct current (BLDC)-motors, of process assemblies with a godet control unit (21) for controlling the motors. Heating of one of permanent magnets of the motors is monitored by measuring a temperature within the motors, and supplying a measured value of the temperature to actual-reference-comparison of the unit. A control signal, which is based on a state of the magnets, is produced. The control signal is supplied to the unit for power adaptation or deactivation of the motors, and for producing a warning signal. An independent claim is also included for a control device.
