<p>The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which is capable of achieving good display characteristics even if the pixels are reduced in size. A liquid crystal display device of the present invention is provided with: a first substrate; a second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer that is sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer contains a liquid crystal material having a positive dielectric anisotropy. The first substrate comprises a first hook-like electrode and a second hook-like electrode that are independent from each other, and the inner contour of the first hook-like electrode and the inner contour of the second hook-like electrode face each other when the first substrate is viewed in plan.</p> |
