PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a contaminant removing screen device for removing contaminant captured by screen members, and a screen system equipped with the contaminant removing screen device, which removes also contaminant originally passing through an interval between the screen members.SOLUTION: A method for operating a contaminant removing screen device includes: a receiving step (relating to a step S11) of receiving water in the state where the transfer drive, for transferring contaminant X at the upstream side of screen members 220 provided with intervals W therebetween connecting the upstream side and the downstream side, is stopped; a monitoring step (relating to a step S12) of monitoring a water level during execution of the receiving step; a transfer step (relating to a step S13) of starting the transfer drive and transferring the contaminant X when the water level during monitoring reaches a driving water level L2 higher than a reference water level L1; and a stopping step (relating to a step S17) of stopping the transfer drive when the water level during monitoring returns to the reference water level L1. |
