PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for performing color shift correction by using an electrostatic latent image for color shift correction, without forming a toner image for color shift correction, while maintaining the usability of an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms electrostatic latent image patterns for color shift correction on photoreceptive drums respectively and measures the moving time required for the electrostatic latent image pattern to move to a position facing a specific process unit, on the photoreceptive drum, for each image forming part. Further, the image forming apparatus controls the timing of starting the formation of the electrostatic latent image for color shift correction of each color, so that the timing of detecting the electrostatic latent image for color shift correction of each color at a detection position is different for each image forming part, in the next color shift correction, based on the measured moving time. |
