STENT CANNULATION GUIDING DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE

The present invention is directed to an intraluminal guiding device having an expandable guiding member so as to facilitate and overcome the difficulties associated with obtaining contra-lateral leg access of a bifurcated stent or a bifurcated stent graft with a second guidewire and a method for treating abdominal aortic aneurysms with such a device. The guiding device comprises an expandable member releasably or permanently affixed to a delivery system which facilitates placement and advancement of a second delivery system.

1. An intraluminal guiding device comprising:
an expandable guiding member having a proximal and a distal opening and an intermediate conduit located between said proximal and distal openings; an elongated release wire having a proximal end and a distal end and an intermediate longitudinal portion between the proximal and the distal ends wherein at least some portion of the intermediate portion of the release wire passes through the intermediate conduit of the expandable guiding member; and an inner member being adapted to receive the release wire and the expandable guiding member wherein movement of the inner member when coupled with movement of the release wire results in a corresponding movement to the releasably attached expandable guiding member.
