The method involves operating a calendaring device (10) that comprises two rollers (16, 17) with axes, and forming a gap (13) between the rollers, which are mounted on two sides of device. Thickness (24) of a treated material (12) i.e. electrode of a lithium-ion battery, is determined over width of the material at a measuring position. A position of a bearing is adjusted based on the determined material thickness at one of the rollers. The bearing is moved along two different directions (X, Z) in the space, where the bearing is arranged in a plane perpendicular to the axes. An independent claim is also included for a calendaring device for calendaring a treated material.
