PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat assisted magnetic recording system using near field light, in which precision for measurement of flying height of a magnetic head on a magnetic disk is improved.SOLUTION: A magnetic disk 2 includes a magnetic recording layer 2B provided on a substrate 2A. A reflecting layer 2D whose reflectance of near field light is higher than the magnetic recording layer 2B is flatly embedded in the magnetic recording layer 2B. An optical signal processing part 6C controls flying height of a magnetic head HM on the magnetic disk 2 on the basis of a detection result of near field light reflected by the reflecting layer 2D.
