An apparatus (2) comprising: addition circuitry (4) configured to receive simultaneously a probe signal (10) that has passed through a channel (30) having a complex transmission and a reference signal (20) and configured to produce at least: a plurality of weighted additions (40) comprising an addition (42) of the probe signal (10) and the reference signal (20) with different relative phase rotations (44) between the probe signal (10) and the reference signal (20) for each weighted addition (40); and processing circuitry (6) configured to use at least two of the plurality of weighted additions (40) to determine a first quantitative parameter for the channel (30) dependent upon the complex transmission for the channel.
