The blowing converter is provided with oxygen blowing function during operation. The combined blowing- and burner tube is associated with an operating mode control device. Blowing converter (1) comprises axially displaceable combined blowing- and burner tube (2) with combined oxygen blowing-, preferably inert gas- and burner function. The blowing- and burner tube comprises a gas-flow channel (4), which is subjected with an oxygen, oxygen containing gas and/or inert gas, and a flow channel (5), which is subjected with gaseous, preferably hydrocarbon containing fuel. The blowing converter is provided with oxygen blowing function during operation. The combined blowing- and burner tube is associated with an operating mode control device, which controls at least one operating mode of blowing and an operating mode of heating, for activating the oxygen blowing function and/or inert gas function of the combined blowing- and burner tube in the operating mode of blowing. The gas flow passage is subjected with the oxygen-containing and/or inert gas containing gas. The burner function of the combined blowing- and burner tube is activated in the operating mode of heating. The flow channel is subjected with gaseous, preferably carbon-containing gas such that a heating- or burner flame (6) emerges from the combined blowing- and burner tube Independent claims are also included for: (1) an oxygen blowing converter, where the combined blowing- and burner tube has an integrated ignition burner; and (2) operating the blowing converter during blowing under atmospheric ambient air pressure and heating of the blowing converter, comprising operating the blowing- and burner tube in a blowing manner in oxygen or oxygen-containing gas and/or inert gas, which is supplied into the gas-flow channel, during blowing in their oxygen blowing function and/or inert gas function and forming emerging heating- or burner flame by supplying gaseous, preferably hydrocarbon-fuel through the flow channel of the blowing- and burner tube during heating of the blowing converter in their burner function.</p>
