The device (10a) has a foreign object recognition unit (16a) detecting foreign objects in a detection operation. The foreign object recognition unit is designed to check own functional capacity in a detection direction. The foreign object recognition unit comprises a voltage measuring element for detecting voltage modification in a resonant circuit (12a) in the detection operation. The foreign object recognition unit comprises a testing unit for reducing quality of the resonant circuit and/or bringing out response in the resonant circuit. An independent claim is also included for an induction method.
