The method involves capturing the images of the surrounding region (7-10) of the motor vehicle from the slave camera (3,5,6) and master-camera (4). An overall presentation of the image is generated by an electronic arithmetic unit (11) of a camera system (2) by the operation of the slave camera and master camera. The current parameter value of the parameter of the slave camera in dependence on the current parameter value of the same parameter of the master camera is set.
