The device (10) has temperature sensors (14) i.e. nucleus temperature sensors, comprising one or multiple signal generators (18a-18f) for outputting an indicator signal e.g. visual and/or acoustic signal. A control unit (12) comprises a signal emitter that is designed to separately transmit a response signal to each temperature sensor. The temperature sensors output indicator signal after the response signal is transmitted to the respective temperature sensors. The signal generators are arranged in a handle of the temperature sensors. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a device for cooking food.
