The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for shutting off the power of a black box in a vehicle, the method including: the steps of sensing a voltage of a battery; subtracting an error voltage as a resistance component by a lead wire connected from the battery to a voltage breaker and a voltage drop component generated by load resistance from the sensed voltage of the battery; and shutting off the power supplied to a load if the subtracted voltage is under a predetermined voltage. So as to solve the problem that lots of errors are generated at the measurement of the voltage of the battery due to the resistance component by the lead wire connected from the battery to the voltage breaker and the voltage drop component generated by load resistance, according to the present invention, the voltage of the battery is measured in consideration of the resistance of the wire connected from the battery to the load (black box) and the voltage drop generated by the load resistance, and the voltage generated by the errors is subtracted from the measured voltage of the battery so as to obtain the accurate voltage of the battery, thus performing the shutoff operation in a more accurate manner than in the conventional practice.
