PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device which can suppress the intrusion of an adhesive for joining a translucent member and a head part into a penetration hole (penetration hole through which light from a semiconductor light-emitting element passes), and a vehicle lighting appliance using the light-emitting device.SOLUTION: The light-emitting device comprises: a head part including a front surface having a protrusion, a rear surface opposite to the front surface, and a penetration hole penetrating a tip face of the protrusion and the rear surface; a translucent member including a front surface, and a rear surface opposite to the front surface and including a first recess to which the protrusion is fit; an adhesive for joining the circumference of the protrusion of the front surface of the head part and the rear surface of the translucent member in a state that the protrusion is fit into the first recess, and a bottom face of the first recess covers the penetration hole; a semiconductor light-emitting element passing through the penetration hole and radiating light which irradiates the translucent member; and an optical system which collects light from the semiconductor light-emitting element, and locally irradiates the translucent member. |
