An apparatus for providing haptic feedback as to the degree of overlap between user elements when an individual user element is moved across another user element, the apparatus comprising: at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: enable the provision of differential haptic feedback based on the particular spatial interaction between a plurality of user interface elements of a graphical user interface. The spatial interaction includes the proportion of overlap between two user interface elements for example when one element is dragged over the other. The haptic feedback can be varied in proportion to the degree of overlap.
