PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder composition for a lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode capable of obtaining a lithium ion secondary battery having excellent in cycle characteristics and low temperature output characteristics.SOLUTION: A binder composition for a lithium ion secondary battery electrode contains: polymer particles (A) containing a (meth)acrylate compound and polyfunctional thiol compound, and produced by polymerizing a monomer composition (a) having 0.001 pts.wt to 10 pts.wt of content of polyfunctional thiol compound with respect to (meth)acrylate compound of 100 pts.wt, in aqueous medium; and a solvent.
