PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus transferring a toner image by using a brush-like transfer member, which is capable of improving transferability by stabilizing the contact state of the brush-like transfer member.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes transfer means arranged to face an image carrier 1 through a belt 6 and transferring a toner image carried on the image carrier 1 to the belt 6 or a transfer material conveyed on the belt 6. The transfer means includes a brush-like transfer member 5 including a plurality of fibers coming into contact with the belt 6 and having conductivity and a substrate holding the plurality of fibers and a pressing member 50 pressing the brush-like transfer member 5 toward the belt 6. The end on the upstream side of the pressing surface for pressing the substrate of the pressing member 50 is placed at the same position as the end Bj on the upstream side of the brush-like transfer member 5 or at the upstream position from the end Bj on the upstream side of the brush-like transfer member 5, in the rotational direction of the belt 6. |
