PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element capable of restraining an extraction electrode from being damaged and having high connection reliability.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent element in which an organic luminescent body 10 having a first electrode 7, an organic luminescent layer 8, and a second electrode 9 in that order is formed on the surface of a substrate 1, the organic luminescent body 10 being encapsulated by being covered with a sealing member 2 bonded to the substrate 1. An electrode lead-out part 11 is provided on an end-portion surface of the substrate 1 while being led out, in a plan view, to the exterior from the sealing member 2. An extraction electrode 3 for connecting to an external power supply is provided on the surface of the electrode lead-out part 11. An end portion of the sealing member 2 is provided with a substrate proximity structure 4 on both sides of an extension region 30 of the extraction electrode 3 being extended, in a plan view, to the interior side of the element, in which structure the sealing member 2 is closer to the substrate 1 side than the extension region 30. |
