PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an EL element having sufficient light extraction efficiency, having no angular dependence causing a color shift, hardly scratched or soiled at a projecting part and making a scratch inconspicuous, more specifically excellent in visibility, and capable of achieving long life by suppressing deterioration due to heat generation; and a method for manufacturing the EL element.SOLUTION: In an EL element, at least a reflective electrode layer, a light emitting layer, a transparent electrode layer, a transparent substrate and a light scattering layer are sequentially layered toward the light extraction side on a substrate. When the normal direction of a surface of the substrate is a height direction, a plurality of projecting parts having a curved surface are provided on the surface on the light extraction surface side of the light scattering layer, and heights of the projecting parts are different each other. |
