PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator in which wear of a rope can be equalized in the whole rope and service life of the rope can be made longer.SOLUTION: An elevator 10A is configured so that a rope 16 stretched via each sheave is sent out or sent back by drive control by a motor 24 to lift and lower a car 12. The rope 16 is endlessly formed. On an apex of a hoistway, first and second support sheaves 42, 44 around which the endless rope 16 is wound and stretched are provided so as to be rotated together with each sheave, and fixing devices 46, 48 for fixing a longitudinal direction position of the rope 16 with respect to the first and second support sheaves 42, 44 are also provided. A controller 40 performs control for shifting the longitudinal direction position of the endless rope 16 by driving the motor 24 after releasing the fixation state of the rope 16 to the support sheaves 42, 44 by the rope fixing devices 46, 48. |
