Disclosed are an authentication/transaction system using a near field communication (NFC) tag and a method of operating said system. A method of operating the authentication/transaction system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: receiving NFC tag information read from a product to which an NFC tag is attached, along with an authentication request from a first user terminal; determining whether authorization to authenticate the product is registered for a first user; providing an authentication result of the product to the first user terminal, according to a determined result; receiving information on a second user along with an update request for the authentication authorization; registering an authentication authorization for the second user, and providing an authentication result for the product to a second user terminal when an authentication request is received from the second user terminal.
