PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a positive electrode active material of a lithium ion secondary battery having a high capacity density, a high charge/discharge efficiency, and a low initial impedance, in which increase in the impedance can be suppressed even after charge/discharge cycle.SOLUTION: A method of producing a positive electrode active material of a lithium ion secondary battery comprises: step 1 of calcining a raw material mixture which contains a powder containing such elements as nickel, cobalt, manganese and a dope element M, and a powder of a lithium compound at such a ratio that the Li/(Ni+Co+Mn+M), representing the atomic ratio of lithium to the total of nickel, cobalt, manganese and a dope element M, is 0.95-1.3 at 300-600°C to obtain a calcined powder; step 2 of obtaining a powder added with a cobalt compound by spraying a solution of a cobalt compound to the calcined powder; and step 3 of obtaining a composite oxide powder containing lithium, by calcining the powder added with a cobalt compound at 720-1100°C. |
