PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a start appropriate to an engine temperature.SOLUTION: A main lock mechanism 16 performs a rotation phase lock by fitting a main lock member 160 into a main lock hole 162 at a main lock phase for closing an air intake valve 9 at timing later than the arrival of a piston 8 to a bottom dead center. A sub-lock mechanism 17 performs the rotation phase lock to a sub-lock phase which is advanced more than the main lock phase. A vane rotor 14 has a hang-out mechanism 144 which hangs out to the outside of a housing rotor 11 for forming the main lock hole 162, and supports the main lock member 160. A lock control mechanism 18 has a temperature sensing body 183 which is changed to an expanded state Se that the main lock member 160 is driven to a fit-in position Li at the main lock phase in a warm stop state during a temperature of a stopped internal combustion engine reaches a set temperature Ts or higher, and on the other hand, changed to a contracted state Sc that the main lock member 160 is driven to an escape position Le at the main lock phase in a cold stop state after the temperature becomes lower than the set temperature Ts. |
