<p>A safety helmet (20) having a protective shell head covering and a front edge (22), a rear edge (29), and lateral edges (24, 26 and 28). A speaker assembly (70) has at least one speaker (72 and 78) mounted onto the helmet (20) and aimed outwardly therefrom. The speaker assembly (70) has means to receive audio signals from a portable sound signal-producing device (60). The at least one speaker (72 and 78) mounted onto the helmet (20) and aimed outwardly therefrom emanates sound directed approximately perpendicularly from the protective shell head covering without blocking surrounding sound, and without affecting safety aspects of the helmet (20).</p> |
