The sensor (20) has a screw winding (24) which is laid around a rotation axis (8) of a rotary case (6). The winding is engaged into sensor element (28) so that the axial position (32) of sensor element depends on angular position of a measurement object about the rotational axis. A detector (34) is fixed to rotary case, for outputting a measuring signal depending on the axial position of the sensor element. An independent claim is included for a method for detecting angle position of measured object around rotational axis.
