The device (1) has a connector (16) arranged between base bodies (11) and an embossing head (18). A spring device is provided with a first plate-shaped element (12) and a second plate-like element (13). A tie bar (15) is placed between first plate-like element and the second plate-like element. An aperture (130) is formed in the second plate-like element, from which the embossing head stands out of a spring element (14) by action of the first plate-like element. An end of the tie bar is connected with the second plate-like element and an attachment part (19). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an embossing device.
