791,028. Moulds. INTERNATIONAL SMELTING & REFINING CO. July 6, 1956 [Sept. 15, 1955], No. 21025/56. Class 83 (1). A water-cooled copper-cake mould comprises a monolithic metal block, e.g. of tough-pitchcopper, having two long vertical side-walls 8 and two short vertical end-walls 9, and waterchannels 19, 19a in each side-wall, disposed exclusively between the projections y, y<SP>1</SP> of the inside surfaces of the short end-walls, whereby the tendency of the mould to crack at the corners is reduced. If necessary water-channels 19b may also extend through the vertical endwalls, and are disposed exclusively between projections of the inside surfaces of the sidewalls. The corner radii 14 of the mould cavity" are as large as possible, and the ratio of mouldcavity length to width is at least three. |
